The buses are always packed to the gunnel, especially if conditions are not so great at Chamonix, so be sure to get there early to ensure you do manage to get a seat on the bus from Chamonix to Courmayeur. The website suggests you get there 15 minutes earlier but I'd get there even earlier. If you want to maximize value from your day, the earliest bus is best.
The bus goes through the Mont Blanc Tunnel and it takes about 20 minutes to get to Courmayeur. Skiers, don't get off at the first stop as this is the bottom of the village. However make sure you remember this location as this is where you'll catch the return bus back from Courmayeur to Chamonix.
The bus then goes to a second stop up the hill, to the cable car terminal. This is where the main lifts to the pistes are located.
You'll need to validate your pass at the cashier. All you do is hand them your Mont Blanc Unlimited Ski Pass and it's converted electronically to allow unlimited access to the Courmayeur resort for the duration of your pass. For this to occur without incident, your pass will firstly need to be validated and used at Chamonix. For prudence, bring with you, the receipt of purchase of the ski pass.
Departure From: Place du Mont Blanc, Courmayeur - that's the bus station. This is where the bus first stopped and you'll see other buses here too.
Allow 20 minutes at least to walk from the area around the base of the cable cars to the bus pick up. This is a good time to use cat tracks on your ski boots to protect them as you'll be walking on tarmac all the way to the bottom of Courmayeur village.
