Look out for news of International Snowsport races in the Valley including FIS, World Cup and European Cup races.
FIS stands for Federation Internationale de Ski - that's the prime international organization that governs international grade snowsports competitions. The energy at these events is truly amazing, and what more, you get to ski and see the athletes train prior to the event.

Ice Hockey games are held at the ice skating rink located opposite the Richard Boson Swimming Pool. You can get there on the eco bus but when it is too late and you've missed the night bus, it is not too far a walk back to the center of town.

There are loads of Nordic activities such as Biathlon, skating, snowshoeing, dog sledding over the course of the season.

This is the cross country trails which start at the building "Ski de Fond Chamonix". It's like their local Nordic Shelter. The free little eco bus stops right outside here.

Walking Tours
The tourist office conducts 2 hour walks in French on the History of Chamonix.
As well, two official Chamonix Guides, Christine and Teresa also guide tourists on walks in the Valley. Providing there is sufficient numbers, these can be conducted in English. Call ahead to enquire.
Teresa's Photo walks includes traditional Haute Savoie life culminating in a visit to a Michelin Chef's kitchen.

Les Houches has throughout February and March some amazing tours where ordinary folk get to see how stuff happens at a winter resort and most of the activities are free.
