The Winter Montreux tour includes the Christmas Markets and a guided visit to the beautifully restored medieval Chillon Chateau. Montreux Switzerland on Lake Geneva is also known as the Riviera of Switzerland.
Think...rich...relaxed...lakeside elegance - that's Montreux. The location is breathtakingly gorgeous, sited between the snow capped Alps and the deep blue of Lake Geneva.
The Christmas at Montreux and Chillon tour is rated 4 and a half stars by visitors. Click to read their reviews.
You'll be surprised while it looks charming and elegant, Montreux is famous as the home of the rock band, Queen.
Freddy Mercury loved this lakeside resort so much, he and his band "Queen" had homes and their recording studio here. You'll see a statue of their famous resident rock star in the park by the lake.
The Casino by the lake was rebuilt after fireworks lit up inside burnt down the building. The Who wrote a song about it.

Chateau de Chillon
The Winter Tour takes in a guided tour of this restored "castle". It was actually the local baron's chateau, sited on a small island on the lake. You'll see some good collections of medieval furniture. It seems the baron controlled lake traffic in this locality and would've collected tolls from passing trade.
Tourists have long been visiting this beautiful part of Lake Geneva including the poet, Lord Bryon. He spent some months here and wrote a poem " The Prisoner of Chillon". You'll see Lord Byron's graffiti in the dungeon - he scratched his signature on the walls.
The Swiss and Germans do Christmas markets so well and this market in Montreux is no different. You'll find artisan works and unique gifts, albeit on the expensive side, in my opinion.
