Chamonix's co-ticketing with Verbier in Switzerland and Courmayeur Italy means full access to both resorts!  Both these partnered resorts are close by, with Verbier an hour and a half’s easy drive into Switzerland and Courmayeur only 20 minutes away, through the Mont Blanc Tunnel.

Verbier ranks as one of the world's best ski destinations. It's enormous with 4 distinct valleys, Verbier, La Tzoumaz/Savoleyres, Bruson and Mt Fort/4 Valleys. Unlike Chamonix, the 4 valleys are connected. There's more than enough terrain to suit the range of ability from novices to expert. The panoramic views are magnificent and the village is has retained its charming rustic atmosphere.

We couldn't bypass the opportunity to explore this resort in Switzerland favoured by celebrities and royalty.

The resort’s huge. Take care to watch the time so that the lifts don’t close before you can get back to the Medran.

There's a terrific snowpark at La Chaux, with rails, boxes and jumps.

Start your skiing day early to explore as much of Verbier as possible. You’ll not cover it all in one day.

Getting There:

We hired a car from Europcar. Their franchise office is located right opposite the Main Train Station in Cham. Be sure to book it early as this is just a small office and will have to order in vehicles if they’re booked out.

Verbier’s not far from Cham, about 60 km and on the day we visited, the driving was easy on clear roads, even on the winding alpine roads. Allow at least 2 hours which will give you enough time to find parking.

You will know that driving on narrow alpine roads can be tricky in bad weather. Check your Verbier Apps before heading off.

During the peak season, the local Bus Company, runs a bus to Verbier Switzerland on a Thursday, providing there are 30 passengers.

Parking:

You’ll notice on the map that there are two levels to Verbier. The lower level, called Verbier La Chable is where you could park the car. The parking here is free.

There’s a free village bus between this parking station and the main village, Verbier. The main cable lift is the Medran and the principal part of the village is around Place Centrale.

There’s also a cable car that goes directly from the La Chable parking station directly to The Medran; it’s operational at peak season.

We drove up the switch back road to the main town, Verbier. The parking stations here are:
• Located in the open
• Metered and fairly reasonably priced
• Well sign posted indicating numbers of available spaces
• Well located close to the route of the free bus, which takes you to The Medran Cable Car.
• Difficult to locate unless you have a map.

The most convenient parking stations in Verbier village are at Ermitage, at Place Centrale and at Catogne, which is further away from the centre. There's no longer parking at Medran; it's just a dropoff zone. I consider the other parking station too far away - you might as well park in the free car park at La Chable and get the free bus.

Verbier Switzerland
Ticketing:

Chamonix's Mont Blanc Unlimited Pass entitles skiers to full access to all of Verbier’s 4 valleys. This is fantastic value as the resort is really quite extensive, and there’s a lot of skiing to be done. There are 410 km of pistes!

The co-ticketing system here was not as seamless as we’d experienced in Courmayeur. When we presented our Mont Blanc Unlimited Pass, the cashier had to check with the manager and after some discussion we were issued with a Verbier Day Pass, for no cost.

If you’re purchasing a Verbier Pass, you’ll note that there are 4 different ticket prices for the different skiing zones. If you're here just for the day visiting from Cham, you'll need to plan where you wish to explore as you won't be able to do all of the 4 valleys in one day.

The best value would be to enjoy Verbier. This covers the black run from the top of Mont Gele, the snow park at La Chaux and the massive mogul field at Chassoure.
